Instagram made a significant announcement on Thursday with the launch of its Creator Lab in India. This creator-focused educational resource is set to revolutionize content creation in the country by providing valuable insights and strategies from popular Instagram users. The Creator Lab will cater to the diverse linguistic landscape of India by offering content in English and Hindi, along with captions in five other languages.
This initiative is an extension of Instagram’s successful Born on Instagram programme, which was introduced back in 2019. The Creator Lab aims to provide a platform for content creators to enhance their skills and creativity. The resources offered through this initiative will serve as a valuable asset for aspiring creators in India, as highlighted by Paras Sharma, Director (Global Partnerships) at Meta India.
In addition to the launch of the Creator Lab, Instagram also unveiled three new features designed to boost engagement on the platform. The first feature, Comments in Stories, allows users to comment on stories shared by others. These comments will be visible to all users and will disappear after 24 hours, unless the story is added to Highlights. Moreover, users have the option to turn off comments on their stories, giving them greater control over interactions.
Instagram is further enhancing communication on the platform by introducing the ability to send cutouts of images as stickers in direct messages (DMs). This feature, which was initially available for stories, is now being extended to chats, enabling users to add a creative touch to their conversations. By allowing users to share images from their camera roll as stickers, Instagram is fostering a more engaging and interactive experience for its users.
Celebrating Birthdays with Instagram
Another exciting feature introduced by Instagram is Birthday Notes, aimed at enhancing engagement on the platform. Users who opt to use this feature will receive a small hat icon in the Instagram Notes section on their birthday. This personalized touch adds a fun and celebratory element to users’ birthdays, further strengthening user engagement on the platform. Additionally, Birthday Notes will adhere to the same privacy settings as regular notes, ensuring user privacy and control over their content.
The launch of the Instagram Creator Lab in India marks a significant milestone in the evolution of content creation on the platform. With a focus on empowering creators and introducing innovative features to enhance engagement, Instagram is poised to set new standards for social media platforms. By embracing diversity and creativity, Instagram is cementing its position as a leading platform for content creators in India and beyond.
