Google recently unveiled their latest gadget during the Made by Google event – the new 45W USB-C charger. This charger is a replacement for the older 30W model and comes with a more rounded design. Unlike its predecessor, the USB-C port is now positioned at the underside of the charger, making it easier to plug securely into a wall outlet. However, this design change may lead to some challenges when using the charger with a power strip due to potential crowding.

One of the notable upgrades with the new 45W charger is its improved charging speeds. With a maximum output of 45W, the charger is more than capable of supporting the charging needs of the new Pixel 9 lineup. Even the slowest model, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, can charge at up to 21W, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL can go up to 37W. This increased power capacity also makes the charger compatible with other devices such as the Pixel Tablet and various Chromebooks.

The Google 45W USB-C Power Charger is currently available for pre-order on Google’s online store for $29.99. Shipping is expected to begin as early as next week. Alternatively, the charger can also be pre-ordered through Best Buy for $19.88, offering a more cost-effective option for consumers looking to save some money. It’s worth noting that despite Google’s offering, there are already smaller 45W chargers available from other brands like Anker for a lower price point of less than $20.

Overall, Google’s new 45W USB-C charger presents a significant upgrade over its predecessor, offering faster charging speeds and a more user-friendly design. However, consumers may want to consider their options carefully given the competitive market and the availability of cheaper alternatives with similar specifications.
